The real reason was that we got a very special visit. Well not us exactly but our friend Adnan :) Yes, yes! SHE came to Slovenia for the first time and Adnan knows that "ona voli da putuje" :) There was nothing else to do... We met in Ljubljana and we were already on our way to Portorož. It was just great to feel some sun on our skin and the smell of the sea remembered us: SPRING IS IN TOWN!
It was great to visit Portorož for the first time this year and to see one of my favourite: KEMPINSKI PALACE HOTEL. It was built in 1910, designed by architect Johannes (Giovanni) Eustacchio, who was born in Italy but he lived and studied in Austria. Palace hotel was back than one of the most exclusive buildings. They say it was the biggest and most beutiful hotel at Adriatic sea. Unfortunately it was closed in year 1990. Portorož couldn't be really proud on it after that. It was nothing else but a sweet memory how beautiful it was once. After all the hotel became part of the cultural heritage and in year 2008 was opened again. It was renovated by a group Istrabenz hoteli Portorož d.o.o., a group built especilly for it's renovation. They demolished the whole building except front facade and internal staircase. It is one of the most beautiful buidings again and I fall in love with it again and again...
